What to Expect From a Consultation

The first consultation will last for up to two hours for an adult. This is an in-depth disscustion where the homoeopath gains insight and understanding into the patient’s life and experiences. Of course the reasons for your visit will be discussed and lots of questions asked. As you know, homoeopathy is an holistic therapy - it’s about the whole person, so questions will be asked about your past and present, likes and dislikes, how you feel about things that may have been traumatic, your behaviour and personality traits. It is important for the homoeopath to know your medical history and that of your family. You may be asked questions about physical or mental symptoms or complaints you feel are unrelated to your visit. However, this information could be vital in determining the most suitable homoeopathic remedy for you. There will be questions about your preferred temperature, sleeping patterns and general energy levels. If there are things you feel you don’t want discuss that is fine. However, the more open you can be the better.

Follow up consultations will be of a shorter duration. You will be asked questions about your current health and well-being in order to ascertain any changes since your previous visit. To help with this it may be useful to keep a written record of these changes however subtle, as there could be long gaps between consultations and it is difficult to remember everything. This consultation time will also be used to further develop a relationship and gather additional information.
